Cameron Golden, Global Business Institute: Sydney Spring 2025

In our program with CEA CAPA in Sydney, we take most of our lessons at a University of Technology Sydney building (UTS), which is located right in Haymarket. Haymarket is the Chinatown of Sydney, but it’s also where a lot of the hustle and bustle is. With the location that we are at, we get to see a lot of typical UTS student life and working life.
Something that stands out about our academic program is how integrated it is with current events happening around the world, especially in my international finance and economics classes. I really enjoy mixing important business staples with real-life context, and I feel this could be really helpful in my classes at Pitt.
There’s a lot about the culture of Sydney that differs from other locations I have lived in previously. One factor that stands out immediately is how significantly less crowded it is compared to any other city I’ve experienced in the United States. It makes a huge difference when commuting or getting to know the local people at food establishments and stores near campus. I really enjoy how it creates a more personal touch on daily life, and it helps diminish that rush that we all feel. Sydney is also a very diverse city with it being in the Asian Pacific, which I didn’t realize the extent of before I came. It has a large mix of cultures that we don’t really get access to in the United States. This is something I really loved about my experience, and getting to learn more about cultures that are so far from where we live.
Another thing that is amazing about Sydney is its public transportation systems. The trains and buses are much more reliable than any other city I have been to, especially the trains. It makes commuting to school every morning relaxing and stress-free.
